Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation New Assistant VP of Communication and Government Affairs, Akeem Jamal

RIOC is a New York State public benefit company with the mission of improving the quality of life for residents through environmentally friendly maintenance and improvement of the island’s physical infrastructure (including roadways, parks, buildings, and public transportation). As president and chief executive officer of Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation, Shelton J. Haynes announced the nomination of Akeem Jamal to the post of assistant vice president in media and government relations. The head of RIOC spoke highly of Akeem’s talents because he is not a stranger to government service. Shelton Haynes said in an interview that Akeem has excellent abilities and will increase Roosevelt Island’s visibility, making it more appealing to tourists worldwide.
Akeem Jamal: A Look at His Professional Life
Jamal has a BA from Fordham University in Communications and Media Studies and an MBA from Pace University’s Lubin School of Management. Akeem Jamal was Mayor Mike Spano of Yonkers’ trusted advisor and liaison to the city’s many departments and agencies, along with his position as Deputy Communications Director for Yonkers. Yonkers became the third biggest city in New York while Jamal worked for the city and is credited with several achievements to his consciousness efforts. Jamal’s work in Yonkers included a significant fundraising effort that aided in constructing Yonkers municipal schools and funding rehabilitation efforts that sparked economic development and created new jobs. As well as serving on the board of Richmond Community Services, an organization that helps people with developmental impairments, Akeem is a member of the National Organization of Government Communicators.

Akeem Jamal’s supervisors at Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation have been effusive in their admiration since he took over the job.
