Wes Edens is the co-founder and managing partner of one of the leading private equity firms globally, The Blackstone Group. It was created by Peter G. Peterson and Stephen A. Schwarzman in 1985, focusing on investments in companies from different industries.
Mr. Wes Edens has a degree in finance, accounting, and business initially from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon, after which he became an assistant professor at Oregon State University before departing to work for Lehman Brothers as a managing director before becoming a partner at Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. He then joined Fortress Investment Group, LLC, where he was the chief operating officer and a director before its purchase by Blackstone Group in 2006.

He is famous for his involvement in American sports, owning several teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks and others, as well as some basketball leagues. He is also a sports agent, with a client list including Michael Jordan, Christian Laettner, Gerald Wallace, and Michael Redd.
Mr. Wes Edens owns a baseball team named the Milwaukee Bucks. He was one of the team’s co-owners along with Marc Lasry and Wesley Edens at the time of its purchase by billionaire hedge fund manager Herb Kohl in 2001 while they were all part of Fortress Investment Group LLC (Fortress). The deal was completed in 2006. It has been owned by Wesley Edens since its purchase, while Mr. Lasry became a member of the Advisory Board in 2009 after leaving Fortress investment group LLC.
