James Dondero is a philanthropist and business leader based in Dallas Texas. He is currently the co-founder and President of the Highland Capital management. Jim Dondero is two time Bachelors of Science degree holder with additional credentials in finance and accounting from the Virginia University. Jim career started in 1984 at JP Morgan -Chase Company; this is where he got extra training in the financial sector. After a successful financial career, James Dondero decided to go private by founding the Highland Capitals management in 1993. His firm grew rapidly to becoming one of America`s most popular Credit manager. The firm mainly concentrates on credit accounts, privatized equity accounts and credit hedge finances. Despite his busy schedule, James is always passionate about charity organizations that aim to improve the livelihood of Dallas residents. He was recently involved in a major project in the Dallas zoo. The zoo that was a hippopotamus habitat collapsed after the death of the eldest hippo in 2001. Jim and a team of other like-minded philanthropists chipped in and donated a total of $14 million to revive the habitat. In addition to the zoo contribution, James was also instrumental in donating towards George W bush Library and the Perot Museum. He has also has also sponsored the Snow Ball express and Uplift education. His track record attracted Mary Jalonick the head of Dallas Foundation and together they founded a common charitable group. Since then, Jim has managed to set aside $3 million annually for philanthropic purposes.
Their foundation focuses mainly on North Texas and is instrumental in funding veteran education, civic group organizations and healthcare activities. Just recently, Highlands Capital Management held a Mother`s day gig at their Dallas zoo to help in their philanthropic course.
