In 2002, Hussain Sajwani started DAMAC Properties Company in Dubai. The billionaire launched his career at Abu Dhabi National Oil immediately after he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Science from a university in Washington. After a brief stint in the oil company, the entrepreneur decided to set up a catering company in 1982. It is while working in the food industry that he honed his entrepreneurial skills. This business managed to attract powerful clients such as Bechtel which is a powerful construction company and the American military among others.
After working in the food service industry for a considerable time, Hussain Sajwani decided to venture into the real estate industry. The entrepreneur started the company after he realized that there was a gap in the property industry in the Middle East. He started out by building hotels in the region during the 1990’s. This is after he noticed that a huge crowd of businessmen had started to flock in the Emirates. However, DAMAC Properties begun after he noticed a gap in the overall property industry in the Emirates. He started out by purchasing land in an underdeveloped area in Dubai. Within six months he had sold units in a residential building that he owned initially and that’s when he began construction.
Hussain Sajwani has in-depth knowledge in property development and this has been able to propel the company further especially in matters which concern sales and marketing, finances, administration and legal issues. The company has been able to accommodate the residential housing needs of the steady influx of growth of people in the Emirates region.
